Dental Plaque Is Healthy – Until It’s Not!

Presenter: Al Danenberg, DDS

Dental plaque is healthy – until it’s not! It is a healthy biofilm with specific purposes. But the health of dental plaque is not just dependent on adequate diet and efficient oral hygiene. The health of dental plaque is critically dependent on a balanced and diverse gut microbiome and a robust immune system. Dr. Danenberg’s presentation will answer many questions, post even more, and may even be considered controversial by some!

Popularly known as “Dr. Al,” Dr. Al Danenberg is a periodontist who treated patients for 44 years through ancestral nutrition, lifestyle, and his leading-edge laser protocol. Dr. Danenberg completed his dental training at the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1972 and his specialty training in periodontics at the University of Maryland School of Graduate Dentistry in 1974. After two years as Chief of Periodontics at the Charleston Air Force Base, he began his private practice in Charleston, SC, in 1976. He is certified as a Functional Medicine Practitioner and Primal Health Coach, and designated as an ADAPT-Trained Health Professional by the Kresser Institute. A faculty member of the College of Integrative Medicine, he created the college’s integrative periodontal teaching module. Dr. Danenberg also serves as Chair of the IABDM’s Periodontal Committee and created their certification course in biological dental nutrition – the first of its kind. He is the author of Crazy-Good Living (Elektra Press, 2017) and has published two mini eBooks on Amazon: Better Belly Blueprint and Is Your Gut Killing You?

Microscopy, Salivary DNA, & More

Presenter: Fran Horning, BRDH

What is phase-contrast microscopy and salivary testing? How are they used as highly engaging tools in periodontal pathogen identification to improve patient acceptance of their disease process and enhance customized periodontal treatment recommendations? These topics and more will be our focus…

Fran Horning is a Certified Biological Dental Hygienist through the IAOMT and IABDM. She is a Qualitative Director and lectures across the country on biological dental modalities. An IABDM board member, she is also an instructor/coach for KT Dental Seminars and the owner of Hygiene Naturally and Integrative Biologic Solutions.

The Microbiology That You Must Know

Presenter: Blanche Grube, DMD

Integrative doctors have long known that periodontal disease isn’t limited to the destruction of the connective tissue and bones of the mandible and maxilla. Conventional doctors and researchers are now catching up with the understanding that the very same microorganisms that cause periodontal disease also cause chronic inflammation, which leads to coronary and vascular dysfunction, cancer, diabetes, cognitive disorders, respiratory issues, and death. Not only is it important to know what kind of microbes are infesting your patients’ bodies; you need to know what to do about it. So Dr. Grube will also compare conventional with biological treatment.

Dr. Blanche Grube is one of the leading biological dentists within the IABDM family, holding a DMD from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine and a doctorate in integrative medicine from Capital University. Mentored by Dr. Hal Huggins, Dr. Grube worked with him on an elaboration of his original protocol, now known as the Huggins-Grube Protocol. Before his death, Dr. Huggins passed the torch to her, and she continues to advance biological dentistry through the Huggins-Grube Institute. An international speaker, Dr. Grube is committed to the education of dental and medical professionals, as well as consumers. She is a long-standing member of the IABDM, with whom she holds a Mastership, and holds fellowships in several other dental organizations. She is the CEO of DNA Connexions, Huggins Applied Healing, and Biocomp Laboratories, all based in Colorado Springs. She has recently published several papers on biological dentistry, and her book Chew on This, but Don’t Swallow is forthcoming.

Dr. Gerry Curatola
